Canadian Rising Star, Mac Clark, Looking Strong AS the f4 United States Championship Winds down

By Speed Group

8.5 points off the championship lead and closing, Clark is bent on taking home the 2021 Formula 4 United States Title

August 13, 2021 - It's been a successful season thus far for Gonella Racing driver Mackenzie Clark. Victorious in the last 5 of 9 F4US races, Clark is on a hot streak. The rookie team-driver combo is now knocking on the door of the championship lead with less than 10 points separating them from the number one spot.

Fresh off an F4 event held in Brainerd, Minnesota, things aren't slowing down too much for the young talent. Clark was recently featured in the “Wheels” section of Canada’s largest newspaper, the Toronto Star. Furthermore, Mac competed in his first ever sports-car event during the month of September. Piloting an Audi RS3 TCR car, he came home with a top 5 finish and has been invited back to the final round of the SCCC presented by FEL Motorsports.

Climbing the ladder to IndyCar, Clark has brought key partners on board for the 2021 season. While maintaining relationships with BELL Helmets and MIR Raceline USA for apparel, Clark has also partnered with Speed Group management for the foreseeable future. Co-founder of Speed Group and Canadian IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe has been mentoring Clark throughout the championship.

“Having support from Hinch this year has helped my performance” explains Clark. “He has such a wealth of experience to share. Whether it's advice on a specific circuit or how to drive the car, there's always something to learn from James. Super grateful to work with him off-track.” Clark, who is also interested in engineering, spent a weekend on the IndyCar pit-wall courtesy of Hinchcliffe. “Seeing Hinch and the Andretti Autosport crew in action at Mid-Ohio was a great experience. As someone who's interested in becoming a race engineer, the speed and efficiency of that team was mind blowing. Hopefully, I’ll be back as a driver in the future” jokes Clark.

Moving forward, Clark is focused on creating new long-term partnerships that will grow with his professional career. Clark recently became a youth ambassador for the Greater Toronto Area YMCA and is looking to grow his home roots. “I think it's really important to show people how sports has changed my life, I want to inspire other kids to get involved,” said Clark.

The next event of the F4US Championship kicks off this week at Virginia International Raceway. The penultimate round is closely followed by a weekend at Circuit of the Americas, where the young stars of F4 will compete alongside Formula 1.
