Clark’s Vision is 2020
Coming fresh off the Richard Mille Young Drivers Academy Mac Clark is headed full speed into 2020. The young Canadian driver hailing from Campbellville, Ontario has treated 2019 as his rookie learning year and now looks to make some big moves in the upcoming season. Switching teams in F1600 now sees Clark driving for Britain West, an Ontario based team with an impressive resume.
Team owner David Clubine stated that he is thrilled to have Mac join the team. “I enjoyed watching his progress last year; getting to know him and his family in the Paddock.”. While team swaps are common in motorsport, they do often come with a learning curve. However, Mac is already adapting very well to his new F1600 partner and will look to make a run at the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship as well as the Formula Canada Championship this year running the full season with Britain West.
Mac will extend his travels further as he plans to run multiple races in Quebec including the Montreal Formula One Grand Prix. This iconic Canadian race pulls over 370,000 thousand spectators and is on the bucket list for most Canadian racers. Further, Mac will travel south of the border to the United States and compete in three SCCA Majors events. These select events will be excellent for Mac to see where he stacks up on a global scale.
Being a PFAFF Motorsports Junior Driver, Mac will also have the pleasure of spending some test days in a GT car. This should pay off well as the young talent does hope to spend more time transitioning into sports car racing. Sports car racing has become a solid career path for many young drivers. After IMSA was recently purchased by NASCAR, coverage is steadily improving, making it a great space for sponsors to showcase their brands.
Building off his success in two seperate Formula 4 testing events in late 2019, Clark looks to continue to make an impact in the open wheel ladder.
The highschool student is not just a star on the track, but also has a very keen interest in business and marketing. Mac has strategically been learning about communications, marketing strategy and branding which will ultimately boost his career potential. He is working hard on creating several new channels for race fans to gain a new perspective on the world of motorsport. His most recent focus has been videography by which he looks to provide content which specifically showcases his career journey with more depth.
Mac had the following to say about his season; “I can’t wait to get this season started, I had a chance to drive one of the Britain West cars in the fall of last year and felt really comfortable with the guys on the team and I know the cars are fast. I was really happy with my rookie season and that’s helped me to be ready to make a run at the championship in 2020,” he added.
For Clark this journey simply would not be possible without the support of this family and sponsors. Pfaff Motorsports selected Clark as a junior driver in 2019, a huge accomplishment which will serve him well throughout his career.
